Topographic Surveys

We provide all types of topographic survey at scales from 1:50 through to 1:2500 using the latest robotic and reflectorless total stations, real time GPS ( RTK ). These services are provided to Architects, Consulting Engineers, Property Developers, Utility Companies and Government departments.

Pipeline Surveys

Our experience with pipelines ranges from pre-design topographical surveys and route mapping, through construction stake out and as-built survey, to the maintenance stage with pipeline mapping of anomalies. Airport surveys

We have surveyed numerous airports and airfields, both military and commercial including runways, taxi-ways, terminal buildings, navigation aids and obstacle surveys. WGS84 control to CAA standards.

Terrestrial Laser Scanning

Flood Defences

Surveys of existing flood defences - coastal, river and estuarine, and surveys for new flood defence construction. Our experience includes asset survey data collection. We are fullye experienced at surveying the accurate levels at the threshold of of household and business premises. Vital for the analysis of flood risk and flooding consequence - whether for alleviation / prevention work or insurance risk.

Floodplain Mapping

By either 'conventional' ground based survey or airborne laser scanning and photogrammetry, we can map flood plains, determine potential flood levels. Also providing watercourse cross sections, bridge dimensions and all other data required for flood studies. We are familiar with EEBY data and the new EA formats.

Highways

Surveys for feasibility, detail design, urban and rural roads to motorways, autoroutes and bypasses to rural upgrades and maintenance - we are fully experienced in all aspects of road and highway survey.

Quarries & Mines

Surveys for mineral workings of all types. We have graduates of the Camborne School of Mines on hand for volumetric surveys, boundary survey, reserve computations and stockpile audits. Shaft sinking, opencast mines, haul roads access inclines, subsidence- in fact any aspect of mines and mineral surveying.

Powerlines

Surveys of Transmission and distribution lines, sub-stations, towers and networks have been undertaken for new build, thermal uprating, infringement surveys, and asset data collection for GIS input. Our reflectorless total stations enable accurate survey. The image of the tower is not a photograph, but a terrestrial laser scan which provides a rich dataset for maintenance and condition surveys.

Coastal Protection and Erosion

We apply conventional and laser technology to the task of surveying for new sea defences and monitoring coastal erosion through beach surveys, cliff monitoring and slope stability surveys.

Railways

We undertake surveys within railway corridors and we are familiar with the high degree of safety management required. Laser scanning and reflectorless total stations have also enabled us to survey railway assets without access to the line.

Measured Building Surveys

Dimensional building surveys for floor plans (re-furbishment, re-design or to compute lettable floor space), cross sections roof plans and elevations. We can now provide terrestrial laser scanning which is ideal for complex building elevations.

Ports & Harbours

Surveying for all types of port and harbour, existing and new build. Quays, jetties, marinas, accurate placement of mooring and navigation bouys. Pre and post dredging surveys, navigation channels, tide guages and current metering.

Training

We can provide training in Geodesy and surveying for pipeline mapping. As today's industries become more reliant upon geographic data, it is vital to 'keep up' with geodesy involved. GPS introduces it's own set of problems with ellipsoid to geoid height conversions. It is vital to understand this to make GPS work well.

Datum Transformations & Geodesy

Always a potential source of error, we are fully experienced in accurately converting datasets from one co-ordinate and height system to another. This includes developing high accuracy local geoid models and dealing with numerous grids and datums worldwide.

Hydrographic Surveys

Nearshore, estuary and inland services provided, including bathymetry, tide and current measurements.

Boundary Disputes

Commercial or domestic, we can provide field survey to help resolve disputes over property bondaries, mineral rights, right to light and similar problems. We can also provide International boundary surveys.

GIS

We can provide topographic surveys in a variety of formats including Autocad DXF and DWG formats, often for road surveys we are asked to provide MX data. As well as GIS data collection in the field, we have produced GIS projects in Arcview for a variety of purposes including road sign surveys and pipeline asset surveys. A GIS allows for the display and interrogation of both raster and vector data with multiple attributes. We can convert shapefiles to DXF and vice-versa. Our in-house software allows us to provide custom functions for the processing of data.

Ensuring your designed project is placed accurately on the ground. We welcome difficult engineering surveying challenges from a small building site through to major international pipeline projects.

Subsidence

We can monitor ground movements at a variety or accuracies using high precision digital levelling, GPS, and remote measurememnt methods (laser and intersection techniques).
